Salomon was created in 1947 in Annecy in France by François Salomon and was innovative in ski technology especially when it comes to the alpine boots. 19 years later the new technology was debuted in the 1966 World Alpine Championships and Salomon became a preferred binding for ski boots, becoming the worlds leading manufacturer in 1972.
